Dr. Seuss Week!

This is Dr. Seuss week in our home in celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. The plan is to read some of the Dr. Seuss classics like The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Wacky Wednesday, Fox in Socks, and Green Eggs and Ham. We'll also be focusing on the Lorax because this week is the letter Ll in Buzz Bee's Letter of the Week box. So, it'll be a fun week of reading, watching a few movies and doing awesome crafts.

It is also the start of a fun birthday month for both myself and Busy Bee. I can't believe that we will have a 7 YEAR OLD soon. Where does the time go? As minecraft lovers, I'm hoping to whip up something really exciting for his birthday. At the same time, I've had to really learn how to start budgeting for birthdays. I've always been one of those moms who wanted to give their kids all the things that I never had growing up. But, that has gotten me into some trouble in the past. Kids learn to expect things and it fosters an attitude of entitlement. Well, I'm not a supporter of the newest generation of entitled kids. So, we'll be nipping that in the bud.

Learning to shop with a budget is a new concept for me. I've been very blessed that the Bee Keeper has a job where he is well paid in terms of the money that we can spend freely. But, we'll be moving back to the United States this summer and I would like to reign in the spending before these little bees are introduced to Walmart and Toys R Us. The last time we lived in the States, they were too young to remember what real shopping is like. The same goes for me as well. I'm sure it will be a culture shock. And we left the States with only 3 bees in the hive, so things will be quite different going back with two more. But, it's an exciting time of change for us. We do look forward to traveling again. Maybe for the last time? Who knows?

I'm also trying to find time to research curriculum for homeschool next year. We're pretty much set on the curriculum for Sting Bee who'll be using Letter of the Week for Pre3 and Buzz Bee who'll be using the Horizons PreK curriculum. There are so many options out there for homeschooling, I just don't know which direction to go for Busy and Bumble Bee. I do love Horizons which is what Bumble Bee is currently using for Kindergarten, but Lifepac is easy to use as well (which is what Busy Bee uses now). So, we'll see what the next few weeks of research will do in our homeschool.

All of these exciting changes really help me to have good days. I thrive on being able to make future plans that will be realized in the short term. And I can't say enough how excited I am to spend the summer back in the States. It's going to be a great year :)
